Background
In recent years, there has been a global upsurge of emphasis on corporate and social sustainability. To meet this need, various normative frameworks and institutions have been established, but there is a lack of coordination and the full support of governments and multilateral international organizations. Hence IFRS Foundation announced the establishment of ISSB at the UN Climate Summit in Glasgow on November 3rd last year to develop international guidelines for sustainable disclosure. The move was supported by the G20, the International Organization of Securities Commissions, the Financial Stability Board and others.
In March this year, the ISSB issued the first batch of international sustainable disclosure standards for exposure, covering the general guidelines for sustainable disclosure, climate-related disclosure guidelines and a series of industry rules. In the same month, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission also issued a draft climate-related disclosure standard, and the EU Financial Reporting Advisory Group issued a more comprehensive and systematic EU sustainable reporting standard.
In order to strengthen the communication between the norm-setters and global scholars on issues related to sustainable development, Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management, London Business School and University of Frankfurt are preparing annual forums for in-depth exchanges and discussions.
The first pilot forum is scheduled for September 15th this year. The Sustainability Forum 2022 will be co-hosted by Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management, London Business School and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, organized by Institute for Global Development, Tsinghua University.
