The Institute for Global Development (IGD), founded in 2016, is currently managed by the School of Economics and Management, and supported by the School of Public Policy & Management, School of Social Sciences, and School of Journalism and Communication at Tsinghua University.

VISION

Create an open, synergetic platform for interdisciplinary research, talent training and policy dialogues

Become a world-leading “think and do” tank in the field of economic governance and global development

MISSION

Propose research support for China's economic governance in terms of strategies, pathways, and policies 

Provide smart solutions for China's participation in global development

Upholding the value of “building a community with a shared future for mankind” and focusing on strategy and policy research, international dialogue & exchange, and education & training, IGD strives to become a top think-tank providing policymakers with recommendations on resolving some of the world’s most pressing development issues, as well as enhancing the international community’s understanding of China’s ideas and policies.


The Institute now has five main research areas: economic development and anti-poverty; international financial governance; international economic and trade relations; digital economy and global climate change.
