On June 28, China Carbon Neutrality Forum 2022 Summit was held in Beijing. The forum was hosted by China Carbon Neutrality Forum and supported by Tsinghua IGD, Huaxia New Supply Economics Research Institute, the Environmental Planning Institute of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Beijing Huaruan Science and Technology Development Foundation and China Energy Automobile Media Group.
The theme of the forum was "scientific and technological innovation and green transformation - the pathway for China to realize the dual-carbon goals".
Du Xiangwan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and chairman of the China Carbon Neutrality Forum, said in his speech that the realization of technological innovation and transformation development in China with carbon neutrality is the inherent requirement of high-quality economic and social development, and a historical opportunity to narrow the gap with the development level of major developed countries. As the world's largest developing country and the largest emitter of greenhouse gas, China's implementation of a national strategy to actively address climate change and its carbon neutrality actions will make an important contribution to protecting the earth.
Zhou Dadi, member of China National Climate Change Expert Committee, and member of the China Carbon Neutral Forum, said that under the reasonable demand of current and future energy, it is important to increase the supply capacity and consumption level of new energy, and gradually replace the traditional energy.
Bai Chongen, Executive Deputy Dean of Tsinghua IGD, and Co-Chairman of the China Carbon Neutrality Forum, pointed that it is imperative to establish a carbon emission accounting system and calculate the actual cost of carbon emissions in the production process. Also companies need to be encouraged to reduce carbon emissions as much as possible by using green electricity and other means.
Yan Gang, Deputy Dean of the Environmental Planning Institute of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, said that environmental pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions having the same root and source, it is necessary to build a task system for pollution reduction and carbon reduction.
Jia Kang, founding director of Huaxia New Supply Economics Research Institute and co-chairman of the China Carbon Neutrality Forum, pointed that it is necessary to leverage economic measures supported by institutional mechanisms to guide companies to use green and low-carbon technologies.
Xiao Song, Vice President of Siemens Global and Co-Chairman of the China Carbon Neutrality Forum, said that consumers' awareness of energy conservation and environmental protection is increasing and green products and technologies have more competitive advantages. The capital market has increasingly stringent requirements for corporate ESG information disclosure, and sustainability is gradually becoming an important factor in the development of listed companies.
Gao Jifan, chairman of Trina Solar Co., Ltd. and a member of the China Carbon Neutrality Forum, said that it is vital to develop energy storage to meet the challenges brought by the large-scale grid connection of renewable energy to the grid system.
Before the Summit, an internal meeting was held online. Participants reviewed and approved the 2021 Annual Report and 2022 Plan.
